FAQs for Fillers
How long does it last?
The effects varies from patient to patient and the results depend on the technique used as well as the product used. This can last from 4 months up to 8 months
What are the complications if any?
Hematoma formation and /or bleeding is possible but proper placement of the product and appropriate pressure after injection usually controls this. It also may flare up cold sores so if you are prone to them. It is wise to start a prescription of an oral anti- viral such as Valtrex®.
How soon will I see the results?
The results are immediate! This is truly a lunch time procedure. The slight swelling associated with the injection resolves within a day.
Will it hurt?
Fillers around the face cause mild pain and usually topical local anesthetics applied for 10-15 minutes prior to the injection controls pain issues. For lips, most people require a nerve block and a short acting material is used that lasts for only 20 -30 minutes. Our goal is pain free treatments.
How much will I need?
Restylane®, Restylane® Fine Lines, Perlane® and Teosyal® are sold by the syringe, either ½ cc. or a full cc. In each individual, the amount required may vary and thus, it is impossible to assess the patient's need without an evaluation. These consultations are offered free of charge to all our clients.

How much Botox® will I require?
Studies have shown that 50 units per armpit appears to be the optimum dose. Thus a total of 100 units will be required.
How much will that cost?
Primary hyperhidrosis treatment is frequently covered by extended health care plans, thus the majority of the cost can be borne by the insurance company.
How soon will I notice the benefits?
After a few days, the benefits will kick in and continue for 6-8 months.
How long does it take and does it hurt?
The procedure takes about an hour. Topical anesthetic and/ or a cooling device can be used to minimize any discomfort.
FAQs for Men
Do men have different requirements for Botox® as compared to women?
Men generally require much more product to achieve the same result. This is based largely on the fact that the muscles for facial expression are much more active in men. Whereas a woman may require 30-35 units of Botox®, a man might require 60-80 units in the frown areas. There are individual variations and only a free consult will help establish the appropriate dose.
Will people know that I have had anything done?
Botox® and Restylane® are injection procedures that can be done over a lunch time. The individual can return to work without anyone knowing that anything has been done. In a few days, your co-workers might reflect on the fact that you are looking well rested. Only the very astute observer would suspect otherwise.
Is hair removal for men different than for women?
The same equipment is used for both, either Light Sheer, a laser based technology, IPL a light based technology or an Nd:Yag laser.
The number of treatments vary from patient to patient but generally men require more treatments because of denser hair.
FAQs for Photodynamic Therapy
What are the side effects of PDT?
Light sensitivity for 24 hours is the norm. Thus if the patient does not protect him/herself from the sun, a very florrid reaction may occur. Redness is the norm for several days, followed by dryness and flaking of the skin within 1 week.
Severe reactions are rare, but can be seen in individuals that do not adhere to the post treatment protocol.
Is more than 1 treatment required?
Depending on the severity of the lesions, 3-5 treatments may be required. An interval of up to 8 weeks is usually necessary between treatments.
What are the advantages of PDT?
When treating acne, PDT offers an alternative to long term antibiotic use and/or the use of Accutane with all its potential dangers.
FAQs for Thermage®
How much time does it take?
The procedure depends on the area treated from 45 min. up to 2 hours.
How much does it hurt?
Thermage® is a heating device, thus heat is generated and the patient has to feel warmth for the procedure to work effectively. How much downtime?
As soon as the medication wears off, the individual can resume his/hers daily activities.
Are there any side effects ?
The commonest one is a bit of redness that dissipates very quickly. Swelling, blistering, bumps or surface irregularities can occur but are unusual.
How long do the results last?
Thermage® has been approved by the FDA since 2002. Therefore there are no long term studies to determine just how long it lasts. It most certainly lasts several years, but the ageing process continues and thus future sagging will undoubtedly occur. Continual proper skin care will help prolong the youthful appearance you will have gained from this procedure.
How many treatments will I need?
This is a one treatment procedure. You do not need to come back except for follow up appointments to document the improvement. It is possible to redo the procedure years down the line, if natural ageing causes problems.
How soon will I see the results?
There is usually some improvement immediately but the full results are achieved gradually and peak at about 6 months.
