Hyperhidrosis
Definition: excessive sweating outside the normal physiological amount to maintain thermal homeostasis.
Primary or idiopathic hyperhidrosis affects 2-3% of the population and affects mainly the axillae (armpits), palms, soles and face. There are a host of secondary causes for excessive sweating and they need to be clearly identified before undertaking Botox® treatment.
Botox® is a safe, efficacious treatment for primary hyperhidrosis in patients that have failed to respond to topical treatment.
